This two-phase renovation touched a couple areas of the mid-century modern home. I was initially contracted by the homeowners to redesign their primary bathroom, and later made plans to renovate their kitchen.
With the help of the original blueprints and on-site measurements, I documented the existing conditions of the home. We collaborated on layout options to create the plan that best suited their needs in both phases.
The construction documents were completed in Revit.

primary bathroom proposed design plans
The existing primary bathroom design was small and had little to no storage space. My clients wanted an efficient and open feeling room. The new layout required to absorb a small portion of the office, but it allowed for the bathroom to feel more spacious and luxurious, while also increasing closet space for both the office and primary bedroom. The new bathroom features an easy access shower, its own window, and heated floor. The bathroom was completed in 2023.

While this kitchen was not original to the home, it still boasted some original features, like the exposed beams and mahogany paneling; however, its cabinets and dark wood made the space feel dark and closed-off from the rest of the home. The homeowners requested a more functional and open layout to allow for upgraded appliances, more storage, and space to host family gatherings.
The proposed layout rotates the orientation of the existing kitchen to maximize the available space. The upper cabinets that were dividing off the room are removed, and the new island features additional storage underneath the dine-in counter. The range-microwave set-up is now split into a separate stove-top and built-in oven, leaving more room for the homeowners to work comfortably together. While some of the mahogany paneling is to be removed, the portion around the fireplace will stay as a nod and showcase that unique feature of the room.
